On June 26, 2021, the final certification of combat horting athletes took place in Lutsk, in which 25 hortingists took part. This is a kind of annual exam for skill and mastery, for which everyone seriously prepares - not only practically, but also theoretically.
It is worth noting that combat horting is a fairly young type of martial arts created in Ukraine. The founders of this martial art explain that its name comes from the name of the island of Khortytsia, where the Zaporozhian Sich was located. Currently, this sport is gaining more and more popularity and gaining fans not only in Ukraine, but also abroad.
The athletes admit that they were quite worried the day before, because the certification is not just the result of the year. Everyone wanted to pass it as well as possible and receive the corresponding belt with honor.
Starting with a traditional warm-up, the athletes actively got involved in the work: they demonstrated various techniques, conducted training duels and fights on the ground. And in the breaks between blocks, they answered theoretical questions from the president of the Volyn regional federation of combat horting, master of sports of Ukraine, coach Serhiy Viktorovych P’atikov.
It is very important that the wards listen to the advice and comments of the mentor. It is worth saying that the Lutsk horting athletes are fine with this: they hear and understand the coach practically from half a word, and sometimes from half a look.
Evidence of how the horting athletes tried to show the best result was even… the fogged mirrors in the gym. Although, the athletes note, this is the picture they have after every training session, because they always work with full dedication.
Three and a half hours of intensive work showed that the hortingists had been training fruitfully throughout the year, so they all showed the best possible results.
“We hold such a qualification exam every year. For each age group - appropriate loads and tasks. The youngest ones get yellow belts, then green, then red, brown - for candidates for masters of sports and black - for masters of combat horting. Also, according to the level of training and age group, each athlete receives a rank - a qualification degree, which is confirmed by a certificate and a mark in the horting passport. Today I am very pleased with all my champions, everyone defended their belts at the level they correspond to,” said Sergey Pyatikov.
The assessment of the athletes' success consisted of many criteria. The main ones were technical aspects. Starting with yellow and ending with black belts, they had to master various techniques of movement, blocks, strikes and wrestling.
According to the results of the certification, four of the youngest hortingists received yellow belts, then six received green, five received red, three received brown, and five received black belts, the nominal belts of combat horting masters. And Yaroslav Golovia, in addition to the black belt, was also awarded a certificate of combat horting instructor that day. For this, the young man says, he worked intensively until the seventh sweat.
“After completing the training, mastering the skills and abilities, the athlete receives the international qualification of a combat horting master. The nominal black belt is so that the athlete’s name and surname are clearly visible during various international seminars,” the coach explains.
Ten-year-old Yura Naumuk became the owner of a green belt. He says that he chose this sport to master self-defense skills, and now he can’t imagine his life without horting. And he adds: first of all, training made him more disciplined and resilient.
“I like the fights the most,” the guy shares. “Today was not easy. But thanks to the fact that the coach gave us breaks, I had time to recover and now I don’t feel tired, only joy from receiving the belt.”
Nineteen-year-old Oleksandr Blokha became the owner of a black belt that day. The guy has been in horting for four and a half years.
“My cousin trained in this hall. And it so happened that I came to the last training of the previous coach. And when Serhiy Viktorovych arrived in Lutsk, I started training with him,” the athlete says. “I didn’t really choose, because I set a goal to learn how to defend myself and those around me, and then I saw that I could do it. I reached the level I was striving for, and I will continue to improve it.”
The hortingist admits: emotions are simply going off the charts, because a black belt is another step towards achieving sporting heights.
“Although I had to sweat a lot today, I don’t feel exhausted, but rather a great charge of vigor,” he smiles.
Twenty-three-year-old Yevhen Boychuk, the owner of a black belt, has also been in this sport for over four years.
“Today’s event is very important, because my belt is the result of working on myself, years of training and competitions. Of course, it was hard, but it was worth it,” the athlete is confident. – For me, horting is primarily a philosophy that allows you to understand a lot and develop yourself in many ways. In a word, our credo is – with horting for life.”
Currently, the champions are taking a short vacation, after which they will hold their annual training camp on the sea coast, and then begin a new training year, which promises to be full of competitions and, we believe, brilliant victories.
