Combat horting allows the athlete to form a whole range of moral and volitional qualities. At the same time, among the integrity of such qualities, volitional qualities undoubtedly occupy a dominant place. Will performs the functions of a regulator of persistent and long-term work in various spheres of human life and plays a significant role in the formation of the personality.
Thanks to volitional qualities, combat horting athletes can mobilize their knowledge, skills and strength for a relatively long and difficult struggle with difficulties, overcome external and internal obstacles that arise in their activities on the way to achieving the set goals, realizing volitional determination.
The manifestation of volitional qualities largely depends on:
the degree of confidence of the athlete in the attainability of the goal;
motivation to achieve (desire for success);
the level of aspirations;
the presence of volitional efforts to overcome difficulties.
The will to win is considered one of the main qualities that combat horting teaches. However, not only to win over an opponent in a fight, but also to win over oneself, over one's negative qualities. This is achieved by body training techniques and the acquisition of other willpower qualities.
A clear classification of willpower qualities was introduced by the National Federation of Combat Horting of Ukraine (NFBHU). According to the conclusions of NFBHU scientists, such willpower qualities as energy, patience, endurance and courage belong to the primary willpower qualities of an athlete's personality.
In particular, energy is understood as the ability to quickly raise the athlete's activity to the required level through willpower efforts.
Patience is defined as the ability to maintain, through auxiliary willpower efforts, the intensity of work at a given level under conditions of internal obstacles, for example, fatigue, bad mood, minor painful manifestations or reluctance to train.
Restraint is the ability to quickly inhibit, weaken, slow down actions, feelings and thoughts that interfere with the implementation of a decision.
Courage is the ability, in the event of a danger to life, health or prestige, to maintain the stability of the organization of mental functions and not reduce the quality of activity. In other words, courage is associated with the ability to resist fear and take justified risks for a certain goal.
Systemic volitional qualities. The remaining manifestations of volitional regulation of the personality of combat horting athletes are more complex. They constitute certain combinations. For example, courage includes such components as courage, endurance and energy; determination - endurance and courage. Systemic volitional qualities also include: perseverance, discipline, independence, purposefulness, initiative, organization. At the same time, it is important to know that basal (primary) volitional qualities form the basis of systemic (secondary) qualities, their core. A low level of basal qualities greatly complicates the formation of more complex, systemic volitional qualities.
Purposefulness is the ability of a combat horting athlete to be guided in his actions and deeds by general and stable goals, determined by his firm beliefs. A purposeful personality always relies on a general, often distant goal and subordinates his specific goal to it. Such a personality knows well what he wants to achieve and what to do.
Perseverance is the ability to constantly and continuously achieve a goal, without reducing energy in the fight against difficulties. A persistent personality correctly assesses circumstances, finds in them what helps to achieve the goal. Such a personality is capable of long-term and unwavering energy, unwavering movement towards the intended goal. The opposite manifestations of persistence are stubbornness and negativism, which indicate shortcomings of will. A stubborn person defends his wrong positions, despite reasonable arguments.
Principledness is the ability of a person to be guided in his actions by stable principles, convictions in the expediency of certain moral norms of behavior that regulate relationships between people. Principledness is manifested in stable disciplined behavior, in truthful, sensitive actions.
Independence is the ability to do one's actions without the help of others, as well as the ability to be critical of other people's influences, evaluating them in accordance with one's views and beliefs. The independence of a person is manifested in the ability to organize activities on one's own initiative, set a goal, and make changes to one's behavior if necessary. An independent person does not wait for prompts or instructions from other people, actively defends one's own views, can be an organizer, and lead oneself to the realization of a goal.
Initiative is the ability to find new, unconventional solutions and means of implementing them. Opposite qualities are lack of initiative and dependence. A lack of initiative is easily influenced by other people, their actions, deeds, questions one's own decisions, is not sure of their correctness and necessity.
Determination is the ability to make thoughtful decisions and consistently implement them. Indecision is a manifestation of weakness of will. An indecisive person is inclined either to reject the final decision-making, or to endlessly revise it.
Organization is the ability of a person to be guided in his behavior by a firmly planned plan. This quality also requires showing the necessary flexibility in case of changing circumstances of actions.
Will is not a supernatural force, but arises and develops in the process of life. The development of volitional regulation of behavior is inextricably linked with the development of motives. In particular, athletes are characterized by instability of motives, their dependence on the immediate situation, which causes impulsiveness and unsystematic actions. At subsequent age stages, situational motives are combined into more stable formations.
The activity of volitional self-affirmation begins in school and university age. For combat horting athletes, the upbringing of strong will often acts as an end in itself. This is a period of complex and contradictory formation of volitional qualities of the personality. Purposefulness, independence, determination, with which the athlete overcomes difficulties on the way to achieving the goal, indicate that he is gradually transforming from an object of other people's will into a subject of his own will. But whether this process will take positive forms depends on upbringing.
Adolescence is characterized by further intensive development of volitional qualities and, accordingly, the relative completeness of their formation. Volitional activity already meets social requirements.
The starting points for educating the will of the rising generation of young combat horting athletes are:
the correct combination of conscious persuasion with demandingness for the athlete's behavior;
ensuring the real impact of requirements on the individual's life relationships with others, as well as on his attitude towards himself;
the combination of conscious persuasion with the organization of practical experience of the athlete performing volitional actions and deeds.
In combat horting, particularly favorable conditions are created for the education of discipline in athletes. Often, combat horting athletes themselves actively fight for good discipline in the team. They warn each other (especially the undisciplined) about the need to strictly observe discipline during training sessions and other events. This has a great influence on the undisciplined, helping them to correct their behavior.
Combat horting athletes also learn to strictly follow the established rules, limit their personal aspirations and subordinate them to the conditions or obligations assumed. Strict, precise and repeated observance of the rules instills in athletes a sense of duty and self-control.
It is of great importance to educate combat horting athletes in such strong-willed qualities as determination and courage. It is relatively easy for a coach or teacher to create a situation that requires decisive and courageous actions from the participants. This especially applies to boys. The main points of such a situation may be:
the presence of circumstances that require a choice between two or more actions or methods of their implementation. In this case, the main difficulty usually lies in the multiplicity or novelty of the conditions, the contradictions of the situation, the choice of the nature of the actions or methods of their implementation;
the limited time for orientation, choice, decision-making and action;
the presence of elements of danger;
the intensification of the competitive struggle between rivals.
Achieving significant results in combat horting requires athletes to be persistent. It is often observed that combat horting athletes, especially during various competitions, spend a lot of effort to catch their opponent by surprise, surprise, surprise him, unravel and destroy his tactical plans, and achieve a quick and decisive victory.
The opponent responds in the same way, creating various obstacles, to overcome which it is necessary to look for new ways and means to achieve victory again, and sometimes repeatedly. In this case, persistence is manifested in the ability to eliminate and overcome obstacles on the way to a consciously set goal, to complete the work begun.
If functional training is conducted in the field (in the forest, in the meadows, on the sports ground, on the river bank, etc.), this requires great endurance from boys and girls. Combat horting athletes sometimes have to run at speed over rough terrain in combination with jumping, throwing grenades, crawling, overcome ravines, streams, make their way through dense bushes, swim across a river, climb a mountain with weights, etc. Many of these exercises are included in the comprehensive program of combat horting as a professional and applied sport for military personnel and law enforcement officers.
Combat horting requires tactical thinking, as well as determination and initiative. Athletes learn to analyze and think logically - and these are the characteristic features of tactical thinking.
During a fight, a combat horting athlete often finds himself in conditions that require him to react quickly and at the same time correctly solve the problem. This encourages him to rely on his knowledge, experience, as well as the experience of his comrades and team. The tasks set concentrate all the efforts of the athletes, direct their thoughts exclusively to one goal - to win over the opponent.
Faced with the tactics and thinking of the opposing competitors, the athletes realize the need to show tactical cunning, which is based on flexibility, non-standard thinking. With each new fight, the participants show more and more ingenuity and ingenuity, their tactical cunning and logic grow. Positive significance for the development of willpower is given to purposeful exercises associated with the conscious desire of the individual to learn to control himself, to master a strong-willed way of behavior.
An important condition for the development of willpower in combat horting athletes is an interest in self-education. Here are some techniques for exercising and educating willpower:
do something that you have never done before;
plan something, and then carry out your plan;
continue doing what you were doing for another five minutes, even when you get tired and are attracted to something else;
do something slowly and thoughtfully;
when it is easier to say “yes” but more correct to say “no”, say “no”;
do what you think is most important right now;
in the most insignificant situations of choice, make it without hesitation;
act contrary to all expectations;
refrain from saying what you are pushed to say;
postpone what you prefer to do right now;
first do what you wanted to postpone;
perform one exercise every day for a month, even if it seems disadvantageous to you.
With the help of combat horting, a sense of duty and responsibility is cultivated in athletes.
Responsibility is a trait that concentrates a socially significant duty, a duty to perform a moral act, perceived by an individual. A responsible individual cannot impartially reflect on any social events, because they are always viewed by him as a participant. From this position, human life is a continuous responsibility that determines its moral value. Responsibility is the responsibility of an individual not only for a certain matter, but also for an idea, its content and consequences.
The inner world of a responsible individual is always open to social needs, priorities, and human values. What can an individual be responsible for? For the practical embodiment of socially significant content.
Taking into account the above, responsibility is quite rightly considered a generalized personality trait of a combat horting athlete. Therefore, all human life should be aimed at mastering this property.
Each combat horting athlete, having certain assignments, is responsible to his comrades for their fulfillment, his work and actions are constantly evaluated by his sports comrades. In combat horting, the athlete is usually deprived of the opportunity to shift responsibility from himself to others or to circumstances. Such attempts are immediately noticed by the coach, the team and are severely condemned. Successful fulfillment of one's duties always causes approval from comrades and generates a feeling of satisfaction and joy. All this stimulates the athlete to more responsibly fulfill his role and duties.
Combat horting contributes to the development of such an important quality in athletes as diligence. By teaching boys and girls to achieve a common goal, overcome accessible obstacles, improve in mastering sports techniques, and show ingenuity, coaches contribute to the upbringing of certain characteristic features of a positive attitude towards their work in students.
It is of great educational importance to involve combat horting athletes in the creation or improvement of the training material and technical base, the construction of complex sports grounds, combined-arms obstacle courses, shooting ranges, weapon models, etc. Athletes get a clear idea of the quality and quantity of work that needs to be done for the arrangement, learn to appreciate everything achieved as a result of collective work, and treat the results of their work with care. Under such circumstances, they develop practical work skills.
One of the important educational tasks of combat horting is the formation of a sense of collectivism and the closely related feeling of friendship, camaraderie, and mutual assistance. The relationships between athletes during the performance of assigned tasks, sports competitions and certifications, general joy, elation, and often a feeling of sadness from failures unite boys and girls who are engaged in combat horting, form their affection for each other, and this, in turn, contributes to the successful socialization of the growing personality.
So, the key to the success and achievements of a combat horting athlete is his moral and strong-willed preparedness. At the same time, educational activities using combat horting make it possible to form and develop a number of spiritual and moral, strong-willed and even aesthetic qualities that are manifested in various types of activity.
