"Varicose veins" is a disease in which the veins lose their elasticity, stretch and expand.
Venous valves act as locks: when blood passes through the valves, the lock closes and does not let it back. As soon as such a system begins to fail, the blood flows freely down and stagnates in the legs. Time passes, the stagnation increases and interferes with the work of healthy valves, the blood begins to enter the superficial veins that are located directly under the skin, they stretch and lose their shape. The veins swell, and they protrude outward.
A feeling of heaviness appears in the legs, then the legs begin to swell, sometimes it comes to cramps in the calf muscles. The expansion of the veins leads to the formation of subcutaneous "knots" that can rupture. As a result, bleeding occurs, which can be life-threatening.
Flat feet, obesity, and malnutrition contribute to the development of the disease. Often, several generations in one family suffer from varicose veins. Some American experts believe that the tendency to varicose veins is inherited, and claim that this disease is controlled by weak genes.
Expectant mothers are also at risk of acquiring varicose veins. During this period, the body increases the content of hormones that weaken collagen and connective tissues, increasing the walls of blood vessels. Therefore, weakened tissues find it difficult to cope with the volume of blood that increased during pregnancy. As a rule, varicose veins go away in most women after childbirth.
Varicose veins can be prevented, removed, slowed down. Unfortunately, the risk of varicose veins in unoperated areas of the legs always remains. But there are enough ways to prevent and alleviate the disease.
Express methods (right at work).
If you have to sit for a long time during the day:
1. Sitting on a chair, raise your toes without lifting your heels off the floor (15 times).
2. Sitting, move your heels back and forth (15 times).
3. With one leg crossed over the other, rotate the foot clockwise and then counterclockwise. Each leg 15 times.
4. Stand on tiptoe, stretch, do this 10 times.
Do these exercises three times a day.
For those who spend the whole day “on their feet”:
1. Stand on your toes and fix the body position for a few seconds (5 times).
2. Move your weight from the outside of your foot to the inside and vice versa.
3. Do 7-10 light jumps on your toes.
4. Place your right foot on your left and try to raise the toe of your left foot as high as possible. Then change legs.
Do all this several times a day.
Special gymnastics
1. Exercise "birch" - a good prevention of this disease, which will allow you to simultaneously remove other health problems. Lie on the floor on your back and rise on your shoulder blades, holding your legs high, until you get tired.
2. Standing on tiptoe (toes) on a small rise, raise your heels as high as possible (15-20 times).
3.10 squats.
4. Lying on the floor, do the "bicycle" movement.
5. Lying on the floor, raise both legs bent, quickly straighten them, then bend them again.
Shoes play an important role. Narrow, tight, too loose, with a thin sole, with a high or small heel, shoes chosen for the wrong weather have a negative effect. Comfortable and convenient shoes ensure normal blood circulation in the legs, increase endurance and performance of the entire body.
After a working day
Wipe tired and swollen feet with pieces of ice. You can dip the swollen feet in cold water for 5-10 minutes, then gently massage the swollen areas of the feet from the bottom up.
Peel the head of garlic, chop it and pour a glass of boiling water over it. Rub the swollen areas with the cooled gruel that has been infused, after 30 minutes rinse with cool water.
Add sea or table salt (2 tbsp. l. per 1 l. of water), a few drops of pine extract to the cool water and place your feet in the bath for 15 minutes, after which you can get down to business with renewed vigor.
Lie on the sofa or on the floor on your back, raise your legs, you can cross them (10 minutes). The force of attraction promotes the return flow of blood - from the legs to the heart. Swelling and strain on the veins are reduced.
Please note! All of the above methods are aimed at restoring normal blood circulation.
