Pediatric manifestations of AIDS in children
AIDS is one of the most important childhood infectious diseases, which is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and is characterized by a profound impairment of the child's cellular immunity.
Ways of transmission of AIDS:
- transplacental - (from an infected mother to a child) - through the placenta;
- through infected breast milk;
- transfusion of infected blood;
- sexually (in older children);
- intravenous drug administration;
- when hygiene rules are not observed in large children's groups.
Symptoms:
a) generalized lymphadenopathy;
b) candidiasis and stomatitis of the oral cavity and pharynx;
c) severe and prolonged cough;
e) common recurrent infections (otitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis);
- weight loss
- growth retardation
- chronic diarrhea lasting more than 1 month
- chills lasting more than 2 weeks.
In March 1987, the first AIDS patient was registered.
The newspaper "Arguments and Facts" (No. 36, 1996, p. 7) reported that in 1996, about 35 thousand underage prostitutes were registered in Russia. In 1995, 41 thousand children were diagnosed with syphilis and gangrene, 66% of children under 14 years of age were sexually infected.
In Sanki-Petersburg, children from 8 to 12 years old offer sexual services.
Recently, sociologists conducted an anonymous survey in quite prosperous schools in Sanki-Petersburg. It turned out that 60% of the girls surveyed dream of becoming prostitutes.
