The modern era poses complex tasks for the species Homo Sapiens, which arise from certain trends and features of social development. The pace of economic, social, technological, informational and even climatic changes around the world requires humans to adapt more quickly and constantly re-adapt to constantly changing living conditions. A characteristic feature of our time is progressive instability. If we add to this environmental problems, changes in the nature of labor processes, the accelerated pace of urbanization and many other factors, it becomes obvious that humans live in a modern changing world under conditions far from those to which they once adapted. All this leads to changes in the biological nature of humans. Now we are observing a decrease in the functional reserves of systems and organs at the population level, disruption of reactivity, resistance and self-regulation processes. As a result of these processes, the nature of the pathology of modern humans is also changing.
What direction of improving physical health do we consider a priority? First of all, it is a healthy lifestyle. Studies by domestic and foreign scientists have proven that the work of people who smoke, often drink alcohol, and neglect physical exercise is inefficient. In this regard, Ukraine, unfortunately, is among the most backward countries. Smokers are hired (although they will be sick more often and have lower work efficiency than non-smokers); alcohol consumption is cultivated as a means of communication and a means of combating stress; regular training in gyms and even more accessible physical exercises that can be performed outside a specially equipped room are not popular; the basics of a balanced diet are not followed. Here, on the one hand, there is low awareness among the population, and on the other hand, there are economic problems facing most families.
As a result, we have extremely low indicators of the total life expectancy of the population, especially among men, compared to highly developed countries of the world. The high level of morbidity among children, as well as high mortality, are of concern.
For health protection, the relationship between a person and the environment must meet specific requirements. The system of life in which these requirements are met at a sufficient level and in an optimal mode must be constantly updated and adjusted.
There is a need for a radical change in the situation in the country regarding the formation of a healthy lifestyle. Two directions are seen here. The first is educational programs for children and youth. At the present stage, work in preschool institutions has been intensified; the subject "Valeology" has been introduced into the programs of secondary schools; departments of valeology have been opened in a number of universities. The second direction is work among the adult population. It is adults who can, by showing a personal example, introduce the concept of a "healthy lifestyle" into the child's consciousness and then contribute to its implementation in life.
When working with adults, one should use the positive opportunity to include motivational factors: interest in a lower susceptibility to diseases, an active and long life, maintaining a healthy (and therefore attractive to oneself and others) appearance. Physical health issues should be transformed, on the one hand, into a large-scale state program - after all, it is the state that is interested, first of all, in healthy, full-fledged citizens; on the other hand, to form a cult of a healthy lifestyle at the spiritual level, supported by appropriate methodology and advertising. Being healthy physically and spiritually should become fashionable. This should also affect the material stimulation of positive results and the development of punishment mechanisms (introducing the practice of dismissals for drinking alcohol at work and appearing at work and in public places in a drunken state, restricting the hiring of smokers, introducing bonuses for persons who have not had sick leave during the year, etc.).
Methodological recommendations on all aspects of a healthy lifestyle should become widely available. Much attention should be paid to its advertising in the media. Large organizations and institutions should create conditions that contribute to improving the physical health indicators of employees (free gyms, preferential passes to health resorts and dispensaries, etc.). At the highest level, such work of organizations and institutions should be controlled, supported and encouraged; preference should be given to those leaders who define such a direction as a priority in their work.
Supporting the physical aspects of health will allow the spiritual potential of the population to be realized. The health of the nation will determine the economic and political place of all countries of the world in the future.
