Parents and children

Returning from school

It is desirable that the mother be at home when the children come home from school. You should not ask them questions to which they give the usual answers:
- How are things at school?
- It's fine.
- What did you do today?
- It's nothing.

The mother can make a few remarks that indicate her understanding of the difficulties, sympathy:
- It seems that you had a hard day today.
- You must be waiting impatiently at school for the lessons to end.
- You are glad that you came home, right?

If the mother had to be away on business at the time when the child usually returns from school, you need to leave him a note. Some parents systematically use this method of communication when necessary. In a note (letter) it is easier for them to express their love and tenderness for the child. This way, a strong contact is established between parents and children.

"Dad is here!"

When the father comes home from work in the evening, the first thing he needs to do is calmly switch his attention from “worldly” problems to domestic ones. You can’t immediately throw all your complaints and requests at the father as soon as he comes in. Let him rest, take a bath, read a newspaper or magazine. You need to give him some peace for a while, and then the peace of the whole house for the whole evening is ensured. Children from early childhood should get used to the fact that when the father comes home, he needs to be allowed to rest, to come to his senses. But at dinner, when everyone gathers at one table, you can talk to your heart’s content. You shouldn’t make harsh remarks about how the child holds a fork, whether he sits straight, or how much he eats. Let the children receive more spiritual bread, food for thought.

It’s time to go to bed

In many families, the most difficult time is the evening, when it’s time for the children to go to bed. This is where the real battle with the mother begins; She tries to put the children to bed as early as possible, they are dragging out the time with all their might. Both sides even develop something like a tactic of defensive-offensive actions.

Preschool children should be put to bed by their mother or father. If you talk to the child confidentially about topics that interest him before going to bed, he will go to bed faster and more willingly. Children love the time when mom or dad belong only to them. And if the parents listen carefully to the child, calm his fears, rejoice in his successes, he will learn to open his soul and thus free himself from anxiety, falling asleep peacefully.

Sometimes older children also like to be put to bed. It is better to fulfill the wish, rather than ridicule him: “What are you, little one?”

For older children, the time to go to bed is postponed by an hour and a half, it may not be fixed too strictly: “You are already big. You should go to bed between eight and nine (or nine and ten): choose what time you go to bed.”

It is better not to get into arguments when a child says that he “forgot” to wash himself or wants to drink.
