International Success of Horting on the World Martial Arts Stage
The appearance of Horting at the prestigious Festival des Arts Martiaux in Paris was not only a personal success for athlete Vitalina Kossak and her coach Denys Ivanytskyi—it also became a powerful symbol of the growing international recognition of Horting as a modern martial art and combat sport.
For many years, the world martial arts community has been dominated by well-established systems such as Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Sambo, and Mixed Martial Arts. For a relatively young martial art such as Horting to be presented on the same stage as these globally recognized disciplines was a significant achievement and a clear indication that Horting had earned respect among international martial arts experts.
The invitation to participate in the Festival des Arts Martiaux demonstrated that Horting is no longer viewed solely as a national sport of Ukraine. It has evolved into an international movement that combines modern combat sports principles, educational values, physical development, self-defense skills, and the rich cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people. The successful presentation of Horting before thousands of spectators in Paris confirmed that the martial art possesses unique characteristics that attract interest far beyond its country of origin.
Over the years, the World Horting Federation has worked tirelessly to expand Horting internationally. National federations, representative offices, clubs, and training centers have been established in numerous countries across Europe, Asia, North America, South America, and Africa. International seminars, coaching certification programs, championships, training camps, and cultural exchange projects have contributed to the steady growth of the sport and the strengthening of its global reputation.
Participation in world-class events such as the Paris Festival provides an important opportunity to showcase the technical richness of Horting. Spectators and martial arts specialists can observe the discipline's unique combination of striking techniques, throws, grappling skills, self-defense applications, acrobatic elements, athletic conditioning, and educational methodology. Such presentations help introduce Horting to new audiences and create opportunities for future international cooperation.
The success achieved in Paris also demonstrated the effectiveness of the Horting training system. Athletes trained in Horting are capable of performing at the highest international level, displaying excellent physical preparation, coordination, flexibility, speed, discipline, and mental resilience. These qualities are increasingly recognized by coaches and sports professionals worldwide.

Equally important is the educational mission of Horting. International audiences have shown growing interest in martial arts that not only develop fighting skills but also promote respect, discipline, self-control, leadership, patriotism, and healthy lifestyles. Horting offers precisely this combination, making it attractive for children, youth, and adults alike. Its philosophy emphasizes the harmonious development of body, mind, and character, which corresponds with modern trends in sports education around the world.
The success of Horting at the Festival des Arts Martiaux can therefore be viewed as an important milestone in the history of the sport. It demonstrated that a martial art created in Ukraine can confidently stand alongside the world's most respected combat disciplines and be appreciated by international experts, organizers, and spectators.
Today, Horting continues its steady expansion across continents, strengthening its position within the global martial arts family. Every international appearance, championship, seminar, and demonstration contributes to the growing prestige of Horting and confirms its status as one of the most promising modern martial arts systems in the world.
The participation of Horting at the legendary Bercy Arena in Paris will remain a proud chapter in the history of the sport—a moment when Ukrainian martial arts traditions were presented to the global martial arts community and received recognition on one of the most prestigious stages in the world. It became a clear signal that Horting has successfully entered the international arena and continues moving confidently toward an even greater future.

Why Horting Is Increasingly Recognized Worldwide as an Effective Martial Art and Combat Sport
In the modern world of martial arts, recognition is earned through practical effectiveness, athlete performance, organizational development, educational value, and international representation. Over the past decade, Horting has steadily gained attention among martial arts professionals, coaches, athletes, educators, and sports administrators as a comprehensive combat system that successfully combines sporting competition, self-defense principles, physical development, and character education.
Horting originated in Ukraine and was created as a modern martial art and combat sport inspired by the historical traditions of the Zaporizhzhian Cossacks. From its inception, the system was designed not only to teach fighting techniques but also to develop strong moral values, discipline, responsibility, courage, patriotism, and respect for others. This unique combination of physical and educational components distinguishes Horting from many other combat sports.
One of the principal reasons Horting attracts international attention is its comprehensive technical arsenal. Unlike many styles that specialize in only one range of combat, Horting incorporates standing fighting techniques, throws, takedowns, clinch fighting, groundwork, submissions, control techniques, and practical self-defense applications. Athletes learn how to react effectively in different combat situations rather than relying on a limited set of techniques.
The competitive system of Horting has also contributed significantly to its international reputation. Through regular national championships, continental championships, World Cups, and World Championships, athletes continuously test and improve their skills under realistic conditions. Competition creates an environment where techniques must prove their effectiveness against resisting opponents. This practical approach has earned respect from athletes and coaches representing various combat disciplines.
Another important factor behind Horting's growing international recognition is its emphasis on safety and systematic athlete development. The sport provides age-appropriate training programs for children, youth, adults, and veterans. Young athletes gradually progress from basic physical preparation and technical development to more advanced competitive skills. This structured methodology allows participants to develop confidence and competence while minimizing unnecessary risks.
The educational component of Horting is often highlighted by schools, parents, and youth organizations. Around the world, increasing numbers of educators recognize that martial arts should not merely teach fighting skills but should also contribute to the development of responsible citizens. Horting places strong emphasis on self-discipline, perseverance, respect for teachers, teamwork, self-control, and healthy lifestyles. These values are integrated into the training process and help young people succeed both inside and outside the training hall.
International presentations have further strengthened Horting's reputation. Demonstrations at major martial arts festivals, international forums, educational conferences, and sporting events have introduced the art to global audiences. A particularly significant milestone occurred in 2019 when world and European Horting champion Vitalina Kossak represented Ukraine and Horting at the prestigious Festival des Arts Martiaux in Paris, one of the most respected martial arts festivals in Europe. Her successful performance demonstrated the technical sophistication, athleticism, and visual appeal of Horting before thousands of spectators and martial arts experts from around the world.
The growing geographical expansion of Horting is another indicator of international acceptance. National federations, clubs, instructors, and athletes now participate in Horting activities across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The continued establishment of new organizations under the leadership of the World Horting Federation demonstrates the sport's ability to adapt to different cultures while preserving its core values and traditions.
Experts often note that modern combat sports gain credibility through transparency, standardized rules, coaching education, referee training, and athlete development systems. Horting has invested significant effort in each of these areas, creating educational materials, certification programs, scientific research, coaching seminars, and competition regulations that support sustainable international growth.
Perhaps most importantly, Horting is increasingly respected because it successfully combines three essential elements:
- Effective combat skills applicable in sport and self-defense;
- Comprehensive physical development including strength, endurance, speed, flexibility, coordination, and balance;
- Character formation through discipline, perseverance, responsibility, and respect.
This balanced approach reflects the original philosophy of Horting: developing not only strong athletes, but also strong personalities capable of contributing positively to society.
As the international martial arts community continues to search for systems that combine tradition, effectiveness, safety, educational value, and modern sporting standards, Horting increasingly stands out as a unique and promising martial art. Its growing presence on the world stage demonstrates that it is no longer viewed solely as a national Ukrainian sport, but as an emerging international martial art capable of making a meaningful contribution to the global martial arts movement.
Horting today represents more than competition—it represents a modern educational and sporting system that develops physically strong, mentally resilient, and socially responsible individuals. This is one of the key reasons why Horting continues to gain recognition and respect throughout the world.
The Future Global Development of Horting: A Ukrainian Martial Art for the World
The future of Horting is closely connected with the growing international interest in effective martial arts, practical self-defense systems, youth development programs, and modern combat sports. As the world continues to seek educational and sporting systems that build both physical strength and strong character, Horting has every opportunity to expand its presence across all continents and in every region of the world.
Born in Ukraine and inspired by the historical traditions of the Zaporizhzhian Cossacks, Horting represents far more than a combat sport. It is a comprehensive system of physical education, self-defense, patriotic upbringing, leadership development, and healthy living. Its philosophy combines courage, discipline, respect, perseverance, responsibility, and service to society—qualities that are valued in every culture and every nation.
Today, the World Horting Federation continues to develop new national federations, regional organizations, sports clubs, educational centers, and training programs throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, and Oceania. Each new federation becomes part of a growing international family united by common sporting values and mutual respect.
The combat resilience demonstrated by the Ukrainian people in modern history has attracted worldwide attention. Across the globe, military experts, educators, coaches, and martial arts practitioners have recognized the remarkable qualities displayed by Ukrainians: determination, courage, adaptability, discipline, endurance, and an unbreakable fighting spirit. These qualities are deeply rooted in the historical traditions of Ukraine and are reflected in the philosophy of Horting.

However, Horting is not designed to promote aggression. On the contrary, it teaches people how to control strength through discipline, how to combine confidence with responsibility, and how to use martial skills in accordance with moral principles. The goal is not to create fighters alone, but to develop strong, educated, self-controlled, and socially responsible citizens.
The future international expansion of Horting will focus on several strategic directions:
• Establishment of official national federations in new countries;
• Development of youth and school Horting programs;
• Organization of international championships, continental championships, and World Championships;
• Expansion of coaching education and certification systems;
• Cooperation with universities, schools, military academies, and sports organizations;
• Promotion of scientific research in physical education and martial arts pedagogy;
• Creation of international training camps and cultural exchange programs;
• Development of programs for women, veterans, and adaptive sports participants.
Particular attention will be devoted to children and youth. In an era when many societies face challenges related to sedentary lifestyles, declining physical fitness, and social instability, Horting offers an effective solution. The system teaches young people self-discipline, respect for parents and teachers, teamwork, perseverance, and healthy living habits. Through regular training, children learn to overcome difficulties, set goals, and develop confidence in their abilities.

The World Horting Federation envisions a future in which Horting clubs operate in major cities across the globe—from New York to Tokyo, from Sydney to Johannesburg, from London to Buenos Aires. International tournaments will bring together athletes of different nationalities, cultures, and languages, united by the shared values of fair play, friendship, and mutual respect.
As Horting continues to grow internationally, it serves as a cultural ambassador of Ukraine. Every athlete who practices Horting learns not only techniques and sporting skills, but also becomes acquainted with the rich historical heritage of the Ukrainian people, the traditions of the Cossacks, and the ideals of honor, dignity, and freedom.
The expansion of Horting is therefore not merely the growth of another combat sport. It is the spread of an educational philosophy that combines physical excellence with moral development. It is a movement that encourages healthier lifestyles, stronger communities, and greater international friendship.
The World Horting Federation remains committed to building long-term partnerships across all continents and welcomes cooperation with sports federations, educational institutions, martial arts organizations, youth associations, governmental bodies, and community leaders worldwide.

The vision for the future is clear: to establish Horting as one of the most respected international martial arts and combat sports, while preserving its Ukrainian roots and promoting universal human values. Through sport, education, friendship, and mutual respect, Horting will continue to unite people around the world and inspire future generations to become stronger in body, stronger in character, and stronger in spirit.
HORTING REPRESENTED UKRAINE AT THE WORLD-FAMOUS FESTIVAL DES ARTS MARTIAUX IN PARIS
A historic milestone for the international development of Horting took place on March 23, 2019, when Ukraine was once again represented at the world-renowned Festival des Arts Martiaux in Paris, France. Held at the legendary AccorHotels Arena (formerly known as Bercy Arena), the festival is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious martial arts events in the world and the premier martial arts showcase in Europe.

The history of the French Festival des Arts Martiaux began in 1985. During more than three decades of existence, the event has become a symbol of excellence in martial arts, attracting thousands of spectators annually and presenting the finest masters, champions, and performers from every corner of the globe. Over the years, the famous stage of Bercy has welcomed martial arts legends and internationally recognized figures such as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Christian Tissier, the world-famous Shaolin Monks, and many other distinguished representatives of traditional and modern combat disciplines.
The arena itself has hosted not only martial arts events but also world-famous music stars and groups, including Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Depeche Mode, Mylène Farmer, and Placebo. To perform on the stage of Bercy is considered a great honor and a significant achievement for any martial artist, regardless of discipline or country.
In 2019, the honor of representing Ukraine and the martial art of Horting at this prestigious international event belonged to Vitalina Kossak, an outstanding athlete from the Lviv Regional Horting Federation. Vitalina Kossak is an International-Class Master of Sports in Horting, a medalist of European and World Horting Championships, and the Grand Prix winner of the International Martial Arts Festival “Warrior of Light” (2018). She trained under the guidance of coach Denys Ivanytskyi and had already established herself as one of the leading representatives of Horting on the international stage.

Her participation in Paris was of special significance because she was invited to compete in the 9th Bruce Lee Challenge, the only competitive contest held within the Festival des Arts Martiaux. Unlike the demonstration performances presented by most participating martial arts schools and masters, the Bruce Lee Challenge brought together elite competitors from different countries and disciplines who demonstrated the highest levels of technical excellence, creativity, coordination, athleticism, and martial arts mastery.
Competing against some of the world's finest practitioners of contemporary martial arts performance disciplines, Vitalina Kossak proudly represented both Ukraine and Horting before an international audience of martial arts experts, coaches, promoters, journalists, and thousands of spectators. Her performance showcased the unique technical arsenal of Horting, combining dynamic martial arts techniques, advanced acrobatic elements, exceptional flexibility, precise coordination, self-defense applications, combat speed, and artistic presentation.
The audience was particularly impressed by the complexity and effectiveness of the techniques demonstrated by the Ukrainian athlete. Her routine reflected not only years of dedicated training but also the versatility and modern character of Horting as a martial art capable of competing successfully on the world stage. Every movement demonstrated balance, discipline, technical precision, and the practical nature of Horting's combat philosophy.

Vitalina Kossak's successful appearance at the Festival des Arts Martiaux represented far more than an individual sporting achievement. It became an important international recognition of Horting itself. In the world of martial arts, participation in globally respected events such as the Paris Festival serves as an acknowledgment that a martial art has reached a level worthy of international attention and respect.
The road to Paris was the result of years of dedicated preparation. Together with her coach Denys Ivanytskyi, Vitalina systematically developed her skills through national and international competitions, eventually earning the opportunity to represent Horting on one of the most prestigious martial arts stages in the world. Their efforts demonstrated the professionalism of the Ukrainian Horting system and the high standards of athlete preparation established within the sport.
The participation of Horting at the Festival des Arts Martiaux also symbolized the growing international expansion of the World Horting Federation and the increasing interest in Horting among martial arts communities worldwide. Every successful international presentation strengthens the position of Horting as a modern martial art that combines effective self-defense, competitive combat sport, physical education, and character development.

For the global Horting community, the events in Paris became a source of pride and inspiration. They demonstrated that a martial art created in Ukraine could stand confidently alongside some of the most famous martial traditions in the world. The appearance of Vitalina Kossak at Bercy Arena confirmed that Horting possesses the technical sophistication, athletic excellence, and educational value necessary to gain recognition on the highest international platforms.
The 2019 Festival des Arts Martiaux therefore became a landmark chapter in the history of Horting. It showcased Ukrainian martial arts excellence before the world, strengthened the international reputation of Horting, and opened new opportunities for future cooperation, development, and global recognition of this rapidly growing martial art.
Today, the successful participation of Vitalina Kossak at the legendary Bercy Arena remains one of the most significant international achievements in the history of Horting and an important symbol of the sport's continuing journey toward worldwide recognition.
